Abdominal pain

What is abdominal pain
Abdominal pain can originate from any of the organ in the abdomen. It is one of the frequent reasons for seeking medical attention. It can be due to simple dyspepsia or harmful malignancies.
The organs in the abdomen related to digestion are the end of the esophagus, the stomach, the small and large intestines, the liver, the gallbladder, and the pancreas. The aorta is also situated in the abdomen. Other organs include the appendix -- an organ in the lower right abdomen that no longer serves much function, the kidneys -- two bean shaped organs that lie deep within the abdominal cavity, the spleen -- an organ involved in blood maintenance and infection control. However, the pain may start from somewhere else like the chest or pelvic area. There may be a generalized infection, such as the flu or strep throat that affects many parts of the body. The intensity of the pain does not always reflect the seriousness of the condition causing the pain. Severe abdominal pain can be from mild conditions, such as gas or the cramping of viral gastroenteritis. On the other hand, relatively mild pain or no pain may be present with life-threatening conditions, such as cancer of the colon or early appendicitis.
Causes of Abdominal Pain
Many different conditions can cause abdominal pain. The key is to know when one must seek medical care right away. In many cases one can simply wait, use home care remedies, and visit the CAM doctor at a later time only if the symptoms persist.[citation needed]
Possible causes include:
* Appendicitis (inflammation of the appendix)
* Bowel obstruction
* Cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder) with or without gallstones
* Chronic constipation
* Dissecting abdominal aortic aneurysm
* Diverticular disease, including diverticulitis
* Easly-stage shingles (a viral infection where pain begins before the appearance of a rash)
* Excessive gas
* Food allergy
* Food poisoning (salmonella, shigella)
* Gastroesophageal reflux
* Heartburn or indigestion
* Hernia
* Infectious mononucleosis
* Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis)
* Intussusception -- while uncommon, this is a serious possible cause of pain in an infant who may be bringing the knees to the chest and crying
* Irritable bowel syndrome
* Kidney stones
* Lactose intolerance
* Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
* Parasitic infections (Giardia)
* Sickle cell crisis
* Spinal fracture
* Ulcers
* Urinary tract infections
* Viral gastroenteritis (stomach flu)
* Some drugs
When an inflamed organ (such as the appendix) in the abdomen ruptures or leaks fluid, the may be excruciating pain, very stiff abdomen and likely fever. This occurs as peritonitis (inflammation and infection of the lining of the abdominal cavity) develops and spreads from the site of the rupture. In infants, prolonged unexplained crying (often called "colic") may be caused by abdominal pain that may end with the passage of gas or stool. Colic is often worse in the evening. Cuddling and rocking the child may bring some relief.
Abdominal pain that occurs during menstruation may be from menstrual cramps or it may indicate a problem in a reproductive organ. This includes conditions such as endometriosis (when tissue from the uterus is displaced to somewhere else like the pelvic wall or ovaries), uterine fibroids (thick bands of muscular and fibrous tissue in the uterus), ovarian cysts, ovarian cancer (rare), or pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) -- infection of the reproductive organs, usually from a sexually transmitted disease.
Abdominal pain may actually be caused by an organ in the chest, like the lungs (for example, pneumonia) or the heart (like a heart attack). Or, it may stem from a muscle strain in the abdominal muscles. Cancers of the colon and other gastrointestinal areas are serious but uncommon causes of abdominal pain.
Other more unusual causes of abdominal pain include a type of emotional upset called somatization disorder, reflected as physical discomfort (including recurrent abdominal pain). Strep throat in children can cause abdominal pain.
Homoeopathy
Homeopathic Treatment for Pain Abdomen
Homeopathy treats the person as a whole. It means that homeopathic treatment focuses on the patient as a person, as well as his pathological condition. The homeopathic medicines are selected after a full individualizing examination and case-analysis, which includes the medical history of the patient, physical and mental constitution etc.
Following homeopathic medicines have been found effective in many cases of Pain Abdomen:
Chamomilla will be indicated when there is a pressure in the stomach as from a stone; when the pit of the stomach and the parts immediately under the ribs on the left side are so distended as to cause great anxiety and shortness of breath. The symptoms are worse during the night; the patient is extremely uneasy and agitated, tosses about in the bed, and sweats profusely; sometimes he is troubled with a throbbing pain on top of the head which drives him out of bed. The pain in the stomach is somewhat alleviated when he draws himself up, and lies perfectly quiet. When the pains are very violent, give Coffea, and afterwards, if necessary, Chamomilla. If Chamomilla is of but little use, give Belladonna. Cramp of the stomach during menstruation can generally be cured by Nux vomica or afterwards by Chamomilla; but if the discharge is very scanty, Pulsatilla or Cocculus.
Magnesia Phosphorica--. Crampy, colicky pain. Patient, doubled up with a hot water bottle or heating pad pressed firmly against her stomach. She wants to be nurtured; better hot baths, better pressure, worse lying on the right side. Thirst for cold drinks.
Colocynthis--This one looks a lot like Mag-phos. There's a bit more emphasis on the amelioration from hard pressure with this one. There may be an exaggerated "bending double" postition; with Mag-phos, the heat is more important than the hard pressure, though Colocynth likes heat as well. Thirsty. Irritable, indignant. Anger aggravates.
Cocculus indicus is indicated when Nux vomica gives some relief, but the pain returns very soon, and is accompanied by hard evacuations, or no movement of the bowels; when the pain in the stomach is accompanied by a pressing, contracting pain extending over the abdomen, alleviated by the discharge of wind; when there is some sickness of the stomach, and collection of water in the mouth without heartburn; when the patient is not irritable, angry, or violent (in which case you would give Nux vomica), but rather sullen and taciturn.
Aconitum napellus for violent pain; the pit of the stomach being distended and very sensitive to pressure, even to the touch; vomiting all the food taken, at last empty retching; coated tongue, the edges or tip red; the abdomen hot; feet cold.
Belladonna when Aconite gives only partial relief, especially in women and persons who are delicate and sensitive; when there is a gnawing pressure or a spasmodic tension of the stomach which obliges the patient to lean back or to hold his breath, by which the pain is also mitigated; when the pain always returns after dinner; when it is so violent as to deprive the patient of consciousness, or make him faint. It is mostly accompanied by thirst, and drinking increases the pain; evacuations tardy and small; the patient cannot sleep at night. Should the suffering grow worse after this, with great thirst, the tip o the tongue being dry, give Rhus; should this also fail, give Arsenicum.
Bryonia alba for the same kind of pressure as Chamomilla, particularly when it commences during meals, or immediately afterwards, and the pit and region of the stomach feel as if swollen; sometimes the pressure changes to a contracting, pinching or cutting pain, which is relieved by pressing upon the stomach, or by eructations of wind; the pains are aggravated by motion (the opposite in Cinchona). These symptoms are attended with constipation, and a pressure in the temples, the forehead or back part of the head, as if the bones of the head were being forced asunder, which is better when pressed hard or tied tight with a handkerchief.
Pulsatilla pratensis, when the pains are of a piercing character; are worse when walking, particularly on making a false step, and always accompanied by nausea or vomiting; the evacuations loose; no thirst, except during the most violent pains; also when there is great tension of the stomach, with pinching pain, or violent throbbing, with anxiety; griping pain, diminished by eating, or the symptoms are made worse by eating; the pain being pressing and pinching. This remedy is most suitable for persons of a mild, gentle disposition, or if cake or rich, fat food was the cause.
Nux moschata, pressure in the stomach, which feels full and distended; a feeling of satiety after eating only a little; after eating, feels very bad and uncomfortable, short of breath; headache after eating too much; headache always after breakfast or immediately after eating and drinking, cramp and pain in the bowels; offensive breath, white-coated tongue; the patient likes to sit in the house and feels drowsy from it.
Ignatia amara, when Pulsatilla is insufficient and the complaints continue for several days; the pains resemble those of Nux vomica, but are without the hard stools and with less vomiting; also when there is pressure in the upper part of the stomach after every meal, or in the lower part of the throat. It is suitable in cases brought on by insufficient food or starvation. It is particularly indicated when the stomach feels as if it was hanging on a thread.
China officinalis for spasm of the stomach in debilitated persons, brought on by using emetics or cathartics, being bled or cupped frequently, or by profuse loss of blood in any way, or by salivation or loss of fluids by other means. It is of the first importance in pain occurring in women who are nursing, or who are debilitated by nursing their children too long; or from excessive secretion and flow of milk. Belladonna will follow it in these cases advantageously. Cinchona must, therefore, be given first, when women have spasm of the stomach from nursing, particularly when much milk runs away (here belladonna is to be given afterwards), or when they continue nursing too long, that is, more than nine months; in the latter case the child ought to be weaned. Generally, when the digestion is not good, with too great a secretion of mucus and acidity in the stomach; when the stomach feels sore; when meat and drink cause pressure and inflation of the stomach, and if the pains are worse when the patient is at rest, and better when in motion, Cinchona will be the best remedy.

Carbo vegetabilis, particularly when Nux vomica has proved useful, but only for a short time; when there is a burning pain, or constant, painful, anxious pressure, worse when touched; or with a contracting, spasmodic sensation, forcing the patient to bend, taking away his breath, and aggravated by lying down. Frequently accompanied by heartburn and nausea; loathing at the very thought of food; constipation.
Calcarea carbonica, in chronic cases, or when Belladonna has been of temporary benefit; for oppressive, cutting, contractive, spasmodic, pinching, choking pains, with a feeling of anxiety; worse after eating; frequently attended by vomiting of food, and worse at night; with pain from external pressure; it is particularly suitable for women whose monthly sicknesses are, or have been, too early and very copious; or for those who bleed much from the nose.
Phosphorus for violent pressure in the stomach, sometimes worse when empty, and sometimes worse after eating.
Causticum for pains in the stomach after swallowing food or drink which was too hot. Inflammation of stomach - see "Inflammation of Abdomen".

Melasma, Chloasma

Melasma, Chloasma
[Melasma; Mask of pregnancy; Pregnancy mask; hyperpigmentation]

What is Melasma/Chloasma?
A patchy brown or dark brown skin discoloration that usually occurs on face and may result from hormonal changes, as in pregnancy and during the administration of estrogen containing oral contraceptives.
It is generallly found on sun-exposed areas of the face. Melasma often fades over several months after stopping oral contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy(HRT) or after delivering a child. It may return with additional pregnancies or use of these medications. The patches gradually fade over many months. In some people, the discoloration never entirely disappears. However, this condition develops spontaneously in some women who are neither pregnant, taking oral contraceptives, nor HRT medications.
Causes, incidence, and risk factors for Melasma/Chloasma
§ Melasma is a very common skin disorder. Though it can affect anyone, young women with brownish skin tones are at greatest risk. Chloasma is especially common in women aged 20-40. It is more common in dark skins than in fair skins.
§ Melasma is often associated with the female hormones estrogen and progesterone. It is especially common in pregnant women, women who are taking oral contraceptives ("the pill"), and women taking hormone replacement therapy during menopause.
§ Sun exposure is also a strong risk factor for melasma. It is particularly common in tropical climates.
§ Melasma develops due to a combination of genetic, hormonal and sun related factors
§ Melasma has been referred to as the mask of pregnancy because it often develops during pregnancy. Because of melasma’s relation to pregnancy and oral contraceptives, it is thought that estrogen contributes to its development in predisposed persons.
§ Estrogen is not essential to the development of melasma, however, as men may also be affected.
§ A factor that does seem to be essential to the development of melasma is sunlight.
§ Both ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) are believed to contribute to the formation of melasma in predisposed persons.
§ It may develop in association with menopause, hormonal imbalance and ovarian disorders.
§ Melasma may also be triggered by a medication called Dilantin (phenytoin).
§ It is thought that female sex hormones causes melanocytes or the pigment-producing cells to produce and deposit excess pigments.
§ Chloasma usually affects women but occasionally is seen in young men who use after-shave lotions, scented soaps, and other toiletries.
§ Chloasma is more pronounced during the summer months as a result of sun exposure. It usually fades a few months after delivery. Repeated pregnancies, however, can intensify the pigmentation.
§ Chloasma also occurs as a side-effect of taking contraceptive pills and injected depot contraceptive preparations. It may also be noticed in apparently healthy, normal, non-pregnant women where it is presumed to be due to some mild and harmless hormonal imbalance.
§ Sun exposure, following the use of deodorant soaps, scented toiletries, and various cosmetics can also produce this mottled pigmentation. This is called a phototoxic reaction and is due to ultraviolet radiation being absorbed by the chemical substance on the skin.
§ Deficiency of Folic Acid during pregnancy can also lead to development of Melasma.
Melasma during pregnancy is relatively common. Sometimes it is called the "mask of pregnancy." The dark patches typically last until the pregnancy ends. Despite the strong connection to hormones, no one knows exactly what causes the skin discoloration.
Other factors that make it more likely that a person will get melasma include using medications that make you sensitive to the sun (photosensitizing). These can include some cosmetics and medicines used to treat ovarian or thyroid problems. If you are already susceptible to melasma, exposure to the sun increases your risk. For example, women who are pregnant or who take a hormone medication and avoid the sun are less likely to develop melasma than are those who spend a lot of time in the sun.
Symptom Pictore of Chloasma / Melasma:
§ Tan, dark brown patches
§ Irregular in shape
§ These patches usually develop on the upper cheek, upper lip and forehead.
Picture of Chloasms, MelasmaPigmentation seen on cheeks and nose.
§ The dark patches often appear on both sides of the face in a nearly identical pattern. The darker-colored patches of skin can be any shade, from tan to deep brown.
§ Rarely, these dark patches may appear on other sun-exposed areas of the body.
§ The dark patches often appear on both sides of the face in a nearly identical pattern.
§ The darker-colored patches of skin can be any shade, from tan to deep brown.
§ Rarely, these dark patches may appear on other sun-exposed areas of the body.
Melasma doesn't cause any other symptoms besides skin discoloration but may be of great cosmetic concern.
Diagnosis
Diagnosis is simply done by skin examination.
Doctor may use a special lamp [Wood’s lamp] that gives off ultraviolet light; it allows the doctor to see patterns and depth of skin discoloration more clearly.
Medical history will help to determine any factors that may have caused the disorder
Conventional Treatment
§ Creams containing tretinoin, kojic acid, and azelaic acid have been shown to improve the appearance of melasma. Occasionally, doctor may recommend chemical peels or topical steroid creams.
§ In severe cases, laser treatments can be used to remove the dark pigment.
Homeopathic Treatment
Homeopathy treats the person as a whole. It means that homeopathic treatment focuses on the patient as a person, as well as his pathological condition. The homeopathic medicines are selected after a full individualizing examination and case-analysis, which includes the medical history of the patient, physical and mental constitution etc. A miasmatic tendency (predisposition/suceptability) is also often taken into account for the treatment of chronic conditions. The medicines given below indicate the therapeutic affinity but this is not a complete and definite guide to the treatment of this condition. None of these medicines should be taken without professional advice.

DROPSICAL AFFECTIONS / OEDEMA

DROPSICAL AFFECTIONS / OEDEMA

Dropsy is swelling from excessive accumulation of serous fluid in tissue. Edema, or dropsy as it is sometimes known, is swelling due to an infiltration of fluid into the tissues. If it occurs in one specific area, it can cause the nearby skin to become taut and shiny, and the muscles become achy. A noticeable weight gain of several pounds can occur. Edema is most common around the feet and ankles, however bloating from fluid retention usually affects the whole body.
Dropsy, Edema - Treatment & Homeopathic Medicines
#Apis mellifica. [Apis] In post scarlatinal dropsy and in acute febrile dropsy Apis is the remedy when the patient is thirstless; this seems to be characteristic.It is especially adapted to cases depending on kidney disease. The skin is pale and waxen, transparent, the urine is scanty and Apis speedily brings about an increase; there may be nettle-rash on the skin. If the dropsy be of cardiac origin there will be swelling of the feet; if hydrothorax, there will be dyspnoea and a feeling as if death were approaching, but no fear thereof as in Arsenicum and Aconite. Another characteistic indication is puffiness under the eyes, another is bruised, sore sensation all over the body. Apis, after serous inflammation where the effusion is not absorbed, is a most useful remedy, hence its use in ascites, hydrothorax, hydrocephalus, etc. Dropsy of the knee, also Iodine. Apis is better given in trituration in these cases.
#Arsenicum. [Ars] This remedy is suitable in all forms of dropsy, particularly in those depending on disorders of the heart and lungs. In dropsy of renal origin it also stands prominent. There is puffiness of the face with oedema about the eyelids, waxy transparent skin, thirst, vomiting, etc. Ulcers forming on the legs. In dropsy oozing of a serum is also and indication. This is found also under Rhus and Lycopodium. Arsenicum is an important diuretic.
#Acetic acid. [Act-ac] Here we have the waxen, emaciated, alabaster skin and dropsies especially about the lower limbs and abdomen. There is thirst, sour belching, water brash and diarrhoea, a broken down constitution. It stands between Apis and Arsenicum, but it has great thirst, and the prominent gastric symptoms will separate it from Arsenicum. Profuse sweating is a prominent symptom.
#Apocynum Cannabinum. [Apoc] This drug is useful for swelling anywhere of dropsical origin disease. It seldom does more than palliate, though in renal dropsy it may do more. The special symptoms calling for it are a gone feeling at the pit of the stomach, cannot tolerate food, great thirst, but drinking causes distress,irregular heart, torpidity and slow pulse. It seems to be a diuretic in small doses, hence this effect can only be palliative and when so used it should be freshly prepared.
#Digitalis. [Dig]Cardiac dropsies; feeble irregular heart, feeling as if it should still with desire to take a deep breath; scanty, dark, albuminous urine, slow pulse, scrotum and penis swollen. Hydropericardium, hydrothorax. Cold sweat. Dropsies of brain. Post scarlatinal dropsy, anasarca with a bluish cyanotic color. In dropsies of the chest Mercurius sulphuratus should be remembered. Muriatic acid. Dropsy from cirrhosed liver.
#Helleborus. [Hell] This is a very useful remedy in many forms of dropsy. There is a jelly-like diarrhoea, urine dark and scanty. It may be used in general anasarea, ascites, post scarlatinal dropsies, and here it has proved a marvelous remedy. Sudden dropsies, acute dropsies accompanied by great debility. Hydrocephalus.
#Lachesis. [Lach] Dropsy, urine dark and albuminous, dark skin or bluish white. Hydrothorax with suffocative fits after scarlet fever may indicate the remedy. Terebinth. Dropsy from congestion of the kidney, dull aching in renal region and dark, smoky urine. Colchicum. Dropsy with dark urine, especially as a complication of rheumatism may indicate this remedy. Lycopodium. Dropsy from liver disease; lower half of body and abdomen distended. Ulcers form on lower extremities.

AMENORRHEA

AMENORRHEA
Amenorrhea means the absence of the menstrual period. Apart from during childhood, pregnancy, breastfeeding or menopause, the absence of the menstrual period may indicate a problem with the reproductive system. One of the most common causes of amenorrhea is hormonal disturbance. The interplay of female sex hormones can be disrupted by a wide range of events, including diseases of the reproductive organs, weight loss, emotional stress or overexercising. Frequently, there is no worrying cause found.
AMENORRHEA - Treatment & Homeopathic Medicines
#Pulsatilla [Puls] Comes first to mind as the homoeopathic remedy for menstrual suppression. It is indicated where the menses flow by fits and starts, or when the suppression is due to wetting of the feet; also, in delayed first menses in chlorotic girls. It must be carefully distinguished from Dulcamara, which has menses suppressed from getting the feet wet, but whose temperament is not that of Pulsatilla. Bayes remarks that in amenorrhoea with anaemia "great judgment is required in the selection of the dilution, which ought to vary from the 30th to the 1st, according to the sensitiveness of the patient, " Jahr ranks Sulphur with Pulsatilla for insufficient pale menstruation. The Pulsatilla patient is disinclined to exertion, with poor appetite and longing for acids,is apt to faint easily and suffers from a tremulous anxiety. Senecio is useful also in amenorrhoea with chlorosis.
#Calcarea carbonic [Calc] This remedy is also, like Pulsatilla, indicated in amenorrhoea when the first menses are delayed, but with Calcarea there is apt to result congestion to the head or chest, giving rise to lung troubles. It is typically indicated in fleshy, scrofulous girls with fair complexion, perspiring easily about the head and subject to acidity of the stomach. Menstrual suppression in those decidedly scrofulous, or with lung affection, especially indicates Calcarea. Belladonna has menstrual suppression with congestion to the head, but its chief use is in amenorrhoea appearing suddenly due to cold, with bearing down and throbbing pains in the hypogastrium and painful urination. Gelsemium. Here the drowsy apathetic state is prominent and neuralgic pains of the head and face accompany. Glonoine. Intense throbbing of head and albuminous urine occurring when the menses do not appear. It will act promptly if at all. If the menses are suppressed from fright, Aconite, Actea spicata and Lycopodium must be thought of. Opium and Veratrum also have this symptoms. Further symptoms indicating Calcarea in amenorrhoea are palpitation of the heart, dyspnoea worse ascending, cold damp feet, etc. Lilium tigrinum. Of use when amenorrhoea causes, by reflex action, heart symptoms.
#Ferrum metallicum [Ferr-m]This is another useful remedy for delayed first menses where there is debility, languor, palpitation, sickly complexion and puffiness about the ankles. It corresponds to weakly, chlorotic women with flushed face, or pale and livid with blue margins about the eyes. It is especially useful in those who have been dosed with quinine and nervines.
#Sepia [Sep]Insufficient or tardy menstruation occurring in the feeble and debilitated, those of dark complexion, delicate skin and who are sensitive to all impressions. In delay of first menses where a leucorrhoea occurs in their stead with determination of blood to the chest and pale face, the remedy is well indicated. Bryonia has nosebleed instead of menses frequently accompanied with bursting headache, and Phosphorus has haemoptysis and haematemesis instead of menses.Lachesis should not be forgotten here. Nosebleed and headache relieved by menstrual flow.
Graphites. Here, when the menses are suppressed, delayed or scanty, and accompanied with obstinate constipation, and indurated ovaries, it comes in especially well after Pulsatilla. It holds the same relation to the menopause that Pulsatilla does to puberty and youth. A sallow complexion, frequent paroxysms of headache, felling of abdominal emptiness and ball like constipation, which are marked Sepia symptoms, will easily distinguish this remedy. Cimicifuga. Cowperthwaite praises this remedy highly in amenorrhoea, giving it when no special indication are present, in nervous women subject to rheumatism or arthritic attacks, with aggravation of mental symptoms when the menses should appear.

Ovarian Cysts, Ovary Pain Neuralgia, Ovaritis

Ovarian Cysts, Ovary Pain Neuralgia, Ovaritis

Homeopathic Medicines & Treatment for Ovarian Cysts, Ovary Pain Neuralgia, Ovaritis
#Apis mellifica. [Apis]Few remedies cause as many ovarian symptoms as Apis. It has an active congestion of the right ovary going on to ovaritis, with soreness in the inguinal region, burning, stinging and tumefaction. Ovarian cysts in their incipiency have been arrested by this remedy; here one of the indicating features is numbness down the thigh. It has also proved useful in affections of the left ovary. Tightness of the chest may also be present, with the occurrence of a reflex cough and urging to urinate. Mercurius corrosivus. Hughes prefers this remedy in ovarian neuralgia. Peritoneal complications also indicate it. Bovista has also cured ovarian tumors.
#Belladonna. [Bell]As this remedy is one particularly adapted to glandular growths it is especially useful in acute ovaritis, and more so if the peritoneum be involved. The pains are clutching and throbbing, worse on the right side, the slightest jar is painful, and the patient is extremely sensitive. The symptoms appear suddenly; flushed face and other Belladonna symptoms are present. Platinum. Ovaries sensitive, burning pains in them, bearing down, chronic ovarian irritation with sexual excitement. Much ovarian induration is present. Palladium. Swelling and induration of right ovary. It lacks the mental symptoms of Platinum, such as mental egotism and excitement. Aurum. Ovarian induration. Lilium. Ovarian neuralgias. Burning pains from ovary up into abdomen and down into thighs, shooting pains from left ovary across the pubes, or up to the mammary gland. Staphisagria. Very useful in ovarian irritation in nervous, irritable women. Hypochondriacal moods.
#Lachesis. [Lach] Pain in left ovary relieved by a discharge from the uterus; can bear nothing heavy on region. Hughes and Guernsey seem to think that Lachesis acts even more prominently on the right ovary; others believe the opposite, the tendency of affections being, however, to move from the left toward the right side. Suppuration and chronic enlargements of ovary may call for Lachesis. Zincum. Boring in the left ovary relieved by the flow, somewhat better from pressure; fidgety feet. Graphites. Swelling and induration of the left ovary; also pains in the right ovarian region with delayed scanty menses. Argentum metallicum. Bruised pain in left ovary and sensation as if ovary were growing large. Naja. Violent crampy pain in left ovary. Dr. Hughes valued it in obscure ovarian pains not inflammatory in nature.
#Arsenicum. [Ars] Burning tensive pains in the ovaries, especially in the right. Ovaritis relieved by hot applications. Patient thirsty, irritable and restless. Colocynth. Ovarian colic; griping pains, relieved by bending double; stitching pains deep in right ovarian region.
